is from Rockingham, North Carolina. He received his Associate in Science in Respiratory Care Technology from Sandhills Community College in 1992 and worked for four years as a registered respiratory therapist before completing an Associate Degree in Nursing at Richmond Community College. He later obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He worked 17 years as a registered nurse in many settings including critical care and emergency nursing. He earned a Masters Degree in Nursing from the University of South Alabama in 2013 and has been working as a family nurse practitioner since that time. Matthew is married and has two daughters. His special interests are care of children with asthma and diagnosis and control of eczema.
